About Whitney Whitney Steele is simultaneously playful and girlish, yet undeniably captivating, womanly, and not unfamiliar with heartache. She is a singer/songwriter whose distinctive melodic vocal style has been compared to Linda Ronstadt. She mesmerizes her audience with just her guitar and resonating vocals. With the support of some of music’s most respected artists, Whitney has come into her own. Whitney's pop contemporary sound grabbed the attention of Gin Blossom’s lead singer Robin Wilson, whose golden backup vocals and guitar are featured in Whitney’s original song “You Won’t See Me Crying.” The song was so successful that Whitney was selected from more than 300 Cingular Mobile Music Studio artists nationwide to compete for a chance to perform “You Won’t See Me Crying” on an episode of the hit prime time show One Tree Hill on the CW television network. Whitney battled against four other bands as the only female solo artist chosen by the judges.
Gretsch Guitars selected Whitney to debut one of the four guitars in the Gretsch Americana series in her latest music video for her song “Storm Warning.” Most recently, Whitney was the first artist to receive a nomination for singer/songwriter in the first annual Phoenix Music Awards (sister to the Los Angeles Music Awards) which will be held at The Celebrity Theatre in September of 2008. Whitney has also been nominated for Best Music Video for her just released 'Storm Warning' video. Storm warning is the first track on her self titled CD. Whitney also received pop single of the year (2007) at the Hollywood F.A.M.E. Awards for her brand new song 'Where Did You Go'. Whitney continues to perform live across the West Coast while building her national fan base, which has poured in through various websites and search engines. Within the first three months of her online public debut of her self titled EP recorded at Westlake Recording Studios where she is involved as part of the artist development program, her songs held steady at the number one, two, and three spots on the charts. Whitney is currently working on her new CD which will include her nominated song 'Where Did You Go.' "I think I am the official Podcaster Girl. I have been doing interviews and receiving consistent airplay all over the world for about 2 1/2 years." Whitney was invited to perform at the 1st annual Podcaster's concert in Ontartio, Ca. September 29th, 2007. She most recently opened for Ryan Shupe and The Rubberband. Adam Curry (MTV former DJ) featured Whitney's video 'Storm Warning' on Podshow.com. Storm Warning was 1 of 10 most viewed videos for January, 2008. According to I-Tunes record sales, all of Whitney's singles sell equally. All Favorites!
